I've come up with a new design that should be very affordable -- I'm working up the design and hopefully will get some time this summer. Interesting that after all these years we still have no viable way to convert our cars into hybrids -- sad really.

Been many things going on in iHero world -- but haven't been working on this project.

I have all the details figured out on paper, including backing up and storage with no technical issues.

All I lack is the funding...and precious time.

Chain Mail

Since I'm using the back-end of a 1994 Ninja 250 as the frame work for my hybrid adapter, I need to know what type of chain & sprockets to use to connect to my DC motor. So -- I need to calculate what MPH will be produced for a given motor RPM -- so I can choose. Before I do this I need to know the diameter of my wheel, or it's circumference -- aka the roll out

Wheeling the Welder

Finally, after two years of roadblocks, my welder is operational.
I had to track down a circuit breaker for my "no longer in production" circuit panel -- oh yeah -- and then there was the whole living, raising kids, working 2 jobs thing getting in my way.....

But we have progress.

4. Can be interchanged between vehicles within 10 minutes
5. Mounts to a standard Hitch
6. Does not have to be ready for mass production

So I've been calling all around Dayton Ohio -- looking for a wrecked motorcycle in order to build a category III hybrid adapter.

I finally found a place called "Roddys" Motorcycle shop -- in Jamestown Ohio -- reportedly they have dozens "out back".

So I go there today -- and I got my first disappointment to find out "Rowdy Roddy Piper" doesn't even work there.

Anyhow -- before I could get out of my mouth what I'm looking for -- the guy behind the counter tells me to come back when I'm not babysitting......yes -- I had my kids with me.

Now, as a parent, I am sensitive to kids running amuck and tearing up a place -- but indeed mine were not.

I realize these motorcycle folk are serious-- and it's "men's work" to ride and work on bikes -- but I'll take my business elsewhere.

I wish all the best to Roddy in Jamestown.

I have realized that I must build a hybrid adapter, thus converting my vehicle into a Hybrid.

People need to "see it to believe it".

I was hoping my drawing would be enough to motivate others to build one -- but it hasn't been enough obviously.

For the Cat II or Cat III hybrid adapter to work -- a force has to be placed on the wheel assembly to keep to rubber on the road. This can be easily accomplished with an air strut -- air pressure can be controlled with an on board compressor -- both components are affordable.

Attaching an electric motorcycle -- minus the front wheel and suspension ---to the back of your SUV or pickup truck. This bike has 18 HP -- plenty to help push your truck around town and increase your MPH.

Category II hybrad idea

Using the spare tire location for full size pickup trucks or SUVs is a great place to install a Category II hybrid adapter. It could be made to be entirely self contained, with control wiring and mounting hardware the only needed modifcations.

How do we convert them to Ethanol?

Hybrad Category I – The hybrid adapter is completely integrated into the vehicle and may run in parallel or in series with the existing drivetrain.

Hybrad Category II – The hybrid adapter is completely integrated into the vehicle and runs in parallel with the existing drivetrain. The Cat II has its own wheel in contact with the road surface.

Hybrad Category III – The hybrid adapter is an easily removed option from the vehicle and runs in parallel with the existing drivetrain. The Cat III has it own wheel in contact with the road surface.
